Colored Rice & Activity Boxes

This idea always kept my little ones busy.  Colorfool shows you how easy it is to dye rice and entertain the kids for hours - well, maybe not hours but long enough to finish a chore or two!

Homemade Stickers

Salt and Chocolate has an easy little tutorial on how to make homemade stickers!  These are the kind that are like postage stamps so you can make a bunch ahead of time and have a whole stash available whenever you need them.  Think of the possibilities!

Quick and Easy Scavenger Hunt

I don't know about you but my kids love scavenger hunts.  This is a quick and easy way to put one together and also challenge your kids creativity.

Make a list of things you want them to find but keep it open-ended. For example:
•something blue
•something with flowers on it
•something smaller than a tennis ball
•something bigger than your head
•something stretchy

You can adjust the list according to your child's ability.  So for an older child it could be:
•something square and bumpy and smaller than your fist
•something silver that moves
•something soft on the inside and hard on the outside

For a younger child try:
•something round
•something heavy
•something scratchy

You don't need to have a particular object in mind - that's part of the fun, seeing what your kids can come up with!

Is there anything better than homemade bread and butter?  Mom In Madison shows an easy way to make homemade butter that even your littlest ones can participate in.

Crayons & Hot Rocks

I love this idea!  Easy to do but use caution with your youngest since these rocks are hot enough to melt wax.  Check out the how-to at Wise Craft!

Welcome to The Crafty Crow!

The idea for this blog came out of my need to keep track of all the wonderful children's crafts I see on the internet.  This collective specializes in crafts found on weblogs of creative people who either have, or work with, kids.  You will also find tips, tools, resources, and other ideas sprinkled here and there over time.  To help you in your search for just the right craft or activity, I've created an extensive category list.

Who am I?  My name is Cassi and you may know me from my other blog, Bella Dia, but if you don't... I'm a single, stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of three.  I was an education major in college, taught preschool for many years, have been a Girl Scout troop leader, camp counselor, and have taught a variety of crafty classes to many different ages.  Even now I have my own business designing and selling pretty things for people to love and have contributed patterns to multiple craft books and national magazines.  I guess this is all a long way of saying: crafting and kids are a huge part of my life and I love it!
