This is a fun little ornament to make after
watching Frosty The Snowman!
Supplies:
toilet paper tube cut to 2" tall
scrap cardboard from recycling bin:
2" square
3" square
scrap of felt or colored paper for flower
scissors
glue
black paint and brush
pencil
Directions:
→ Draw a 2 6/8" diameter circle on the 3" square
cardboard;I traced a jar lid. This is the brim of the
hat, don't worry about being perfect here, just
try to get the brim in proportion to
the height of the hat.
→ Cut out the circle for the brim.
→ Put glue on one end of the tp tube and glue onto
the center of the small cardboard square. If there is
print on the cardboard make sure you glue the tube
to the printed side.
→ Glue the other end of the tp tube to the center of
the circle. If there is print on the cardboard, glue
to the unprinted side. Let dry.
→ Cut a small flower from the felt or paper
and glue together.
→ After the glue has dried, cut the extra cardboard
away from the top of the hat.
→ The hat is all done and ready for painting!
→ This step is optional and only to be done by a parent.
After the paint has dried, use an exacto knife to cut
away the opening of the hat and then paint the inside.
→ Glue the flower to the hat. The hat on the right
has an optional ribbon band added. Attach a string
for hanging if you'd like.
Now, see what magic happens when your little hat
is placed on everyone's head ;)
