Please welcome Jessica of scrumdilly-do! sharing her
favorite children's book, Willow's Whispers, and make an
easy magic microphone for some fun pretend play!
Greetings crafty friends! This is Jessica from
scrumdilly-do! and I am thrilled, thrilled, thrilled to share
with you one of my favorite children's books and crafts.
Willow's Whispers by Lana Button and illustrated
by Tania Howells, published by Kids Can Press.
shy kind of girl whose voice can barely dance out of her
mouth. Willow speaks in the softest of whispers and she
really wants to be a part of the class but her shyness
keeps her almost invisible. Each night at bed time her
father assures her there is a bigger voice inside her and
that when she is ready it will come about. To help gain
confidence, Willow conjures up a magic microphone to
amplify her whispers. Soon, her classmates begin to
notice and Willow begins to find her place until one day
her magic microphone becomes crushed. What will
happen to Willow now?
Willow's Whispers is a wonderful tool to teach children
about compassion and kindness and to point out our
similarities and differences. You can ask your kiddos how
they feel about the story as it unfolds and what they
would do to help Willow. The best part is Willow's
Whispers has a built in craft...Magic Microphones!
All you need is a cardboard tube or two. Paint, paper,
glue, glitter, stickers, etc. Set out your supplies and
let your kiddos create!
